My late husband died last year from advanced prostate cancer, and his oncologist treated both breast & prostate cancer — the hormonal aspects are related in treatment.

For the gender gap in mortality, if you look at disparities by cause of death, (and also by where the largest disparities in mortality rates are by age), in the U.S. you will see it's among young men and for external causes of death: suicide, homicide, and accidental causes of death (which includes drug overdoses):

There's nothing particularly natural about that difference, necessarily.
With respect to natural causes of death, another large driver in differences had been differences in smoking rates -- that used to be a big gap. As that's come down, men's death rates due to lung cancer and heart disease due to smoking have also decreased.
During COVID, death rates were far higher for males than females in each age group, too. This is a common pattern with many/most natural causes of death... very few causes exist where females have higher rates in the U.S. This is a very weird thing for GGGR to think is something for them to work on.

My late husband died last year from advanced prostate cancer, and his oncologist treated both breast & prostate cancer — the hormonal aspects are related in treatment.
That said, I think the screening recommendations given to men are poor, which is why we end up with situations like President Biden having his surgery not caught until it’s advanced.

Men are not even AWARE of the prostata cancer issue, which is funded 5x less than breast cancer. And I am not suggesting that we need to fund the same men and women, I am saying that we need to fund Mens' Health 10x MORE than women's health until we have the same life spam.
My father has recently disgnosed with prostata cancer and I have just learnt that males from 45+ should screen for that! No body has EVER told me that prostata cancer is an issue for (relatively) young men! When I told my friend, very few were aware of... If you have any precedent in your family, the screening should start even earlier.
There is no place where there is a full list of screening for men by each age.
Are we supposed to get a PHD to know what screening is good for men? Even when you ask Doctors, there is no protocol, no list, nothing.
Some mention prostata, some mention colorectal, nothing.
We have had 100s of year of the pink breast cancer the pink ribbon for breast cancer... and men are not even aware of the prostata screening??

But it has become increasingly clear that most of the energy has come from researchers (mostly women) who are just not all that interested in the struggles of men, and have failed to notice (or feel!) what is happening to men as the culture increasingly shifts in ways that redound to women's favor, often leaving men behind. Tragically, we are now seeing the cost of that--of men who have little sense of honorable and fulfilling male ways of being or contributing to society. Your emphasis on HEAL professions is enormously valuable in that regard. And perhaps with good data to back us up, we can begin to redress a few of the counter-inequities.
